Not Every Deer is Record Book - In Pursuit of Legends Outdoors
Not Every Deer is Record Book
But every one is a Blessing
Chris Fuller, an ole southern gentleman definitely puts in the time. I've never met someone more devoted to killing a nice deer than him. Sure you see guys taking Booner's every day on the internet but, those bucks don't live everywhere. You have to accept what you have and realize you can't kill what doesn't exist in your area. This the wild county of North Carolina where land leases are hard to come by , hunting the fringes of tobacco fields or cotton of sandhills country is tough and everyone and their brother hunts. You simply "get whatcha get" and be grateful for it.
Chris takes his time, he's patient, he goes almost every day and plants himself in a blind in front of food plots that friends including myself chipped in to help him prepare. To Chris, his cell camera is a religion, as it has become for many in our deer hunting society today.
This buck, was a wanderer, Chris never seen this buck before and with only one week left in the season he figured he'd take a doe for the freezer or whatever nice buck that for once came in during the daylight hours.
When I got the call just as the sun was setting I knew right away it was one of two things, trouble we hate to think about or great news that he needed a hand with a deer. Thankfully the soft southern drawl at the onset of the call could only mean one thing, a deer is down.
When I arrived Chris had already located the deer and thankfully it made a short run for the dirt road after being hit making all our lives much easier. During our short drag to the truck all the time Chris claiming, "I've been blessed". Honestly, it couldn't happen to a better guy and I'm glad to be apart of this group of southern gentlemen hunters.
